5 A Day National Excellence Award

The Produce for Better Health Foundation recognizes the 10 winning companies and 5 individual Ambassadors of the third annual 5 A Day National Excellence Award Series.  These awards honor corporate involvement, employee achievement and employee educational awareness in the 5 A Day -- for Better Health program.  The Foundation thanks all of the corporations who participated in this program.  This year's award series was made possible by grants from Western Growers Insurance Services and Zeneca.

As the Diamond Crystal Award recipient, SUPERVALU INC. attained the highest level of excellence.  SUPERVALU's many outstanding efforts set an example for how a company can incorporate 5 A Day into its business, workplace and community.

Corporations participate in the 5 A Day National Excellence Award Series because 5 A Day can improve the health of employees and help reduce the staggering costs of health care.  Your company can participate in this year's 5 A Day National Excellence Award Series.  Challenge your employees to eat 5 or more servings of fruits and vegetables a day to improve their health.  Have your corporate wellness coordinator or human resource director call the Foundation at 302-235-ADAY (2329); ext. 22 to learn more about how to participate.

Entries must be received by December 31, 2000.

You can get some of your 5 A Day at a restaurant too. Try vegetable pizza, vegetable pasta (but watch out for cream sauces), or a fresh vegetable "wrap." Instead of French fries, order a plain baked potato, vegetable soup, or a small salad.
