At
your next company gathering, suggest a "healthy" potluck,
encouraging employees to bring in their favorite fruit or vegetable dish and
the recipe.
Check
out the restaurants close to work and make a "go to" list of those
that offer a good variety of fruits and vegetables on their menu.
Bring
in two to three pieces of fresh fruit each day and place them in a fruit
basket in your office. Your
goal is to eat the fruit before going home for the day.
Keep
dried fruit and nuts in your desk or file drawer for quick and easy
mid-morning or mid-afternoon snacks.
Ask
your company to stock the vending machines with 100 percent fruit or
vegetable juices, fresh oranges, and apples, and boxes of raisins and other
dried fruits. (Click here for a
list of suggested vending suppliers).
Request
that an assortment of fruits and vegetables be included in your food service
menu. Suggest that salads and
vegetables be offered first in the buffet line, followed by starches, meats,
and dessert items.
Encourage
your company to participate in the 5 A Day National Excellence Awards.
Challenge your co-workers and businesses to bring 5 A Day to work.
